💧 Severn Trent Community Fund Project
In 2023, Lane Avenue & Moorside Community Allotments was awarded a grant of £4,900 from the Severn Trent Community Fund to support important environmental improvements across the site

Community Events
One of the things that makes Lane Avenue & Moorside Community Allotments so special is the strong sense of community that runs through everything we do. Throughout the year, we organise a range of events that bring plot holders, families, and friends together — not just to grow food, but to grow friendships too.

💍 Love Grows Here Too
Lane Avenue & Moorside Community Allotments isn’t just a place to grow fruit and vegetables — it’s a place where memories are made.
Over the years, plot holders have formed friendships, strengthened family bonds, and created special moments on site. In fact, some members love the allotment so much that they’ve chosen to take their wedding photos here, surrounded by the plots they’ve nurtured and the community that means so much to them.
There’s something truly special about celebrating life’s milestones in a place filled with nature, colour, and shared history. It’s a testament to the welcoming, supportive atmosphere that makes our allotment feel like more than just a growing space — it feels like home.
At Lane Avenue & Moorside, we don’t just grow vegetables… sometimes, we grow love stories too.

This funding is helping us to:-
-
Harvest rainwater across three areas of the allotment to reduce our reliance on mains water and make irrigation more sustainable for plot holders.
-
Enhance safety and accessibility around the adjacent wetland area, including improvements to a previously unsafe footpath — making it safer for members, families, and local school groups to enjoy.
-
Support biodiversity and wildlife by planning long-term improvements to the wetland and pools nearby, benefiting local species and drawing more people into nature

Easter Parades
Our Easter Parades are always a highlight, with families getting involved and the site filled with colour, creativity, and laughter. It’s a lovely way to welcome spring and bring everyone together after the winter months.
We also hold Jumble Sales, helping to raise funds for site improvements while encouraging sustainability and reuse within the community. They’re a great opportunity for a chat, a bargain, and a bit of friendly banter.

🐸 Working with Froglife & Our Amphibian Pond
We’re proud to be working alongside Froglife, a national wildlife charity dedicated to the conservation of frogs, toads, newts and other amphibians.
Together, we’ve been focusing on protecting and enhancing our on-site amphibian pond — a special part of the allotment that supports local wildlife and boosts biodiversity across the site. The pond provides an important habitat for frogs, toads, and newts, as well as a range of other insects and species that thrive in wetland environments.
With guidance and support from Froglife, we’ve been learning more about habitat management, pond care, and how to make the space even more wildlife-friendly. It’s been a fantastic opportunity for plot holders to get involved in practical conservation work while deepening our understanding of the natural world around us.
Our amphibian pond is a reminder that allotments aren’t just about growing food — they’re also about nurturing nature and creating spaces where both people and wildlife can flourish.
